the best way to spend my summer vacation

I can't wait summer vacation !!  There are still two more  assignments due I haven't finished, though.
Just thinking of summer vacation makes me smile. I'm busy with planning for trips with my husband and visit to my sister in New York. However, I'd love to spend my vacation  getting exposed to engough English input. I'd like to get some chances to use English all the time. If I were stuck at home with my children , I would rarely use English just like when I was in Korea. What is the good way to spend my vacation when it comes to improving English ability? Should I find  some volunteering opportunity at nearby YMCA ? Where would be the place I could use English all the time? Please give me some brilliant ideas, you guys.

  1. Summer! Yes! I wish I could travel with you. Summer school in LAUSD will be in session. Volunteers are always welcomed. Call the public libraries they also like volunteers. I am thinking of places where young people will be, they love to talk and share their experiences. Have a great summer!

  2. Public schools districts and City Halls are good places to find voluntary work, and they are places where you will be exposed, not just to English, but also to better English. Usually every city has a school district administration center and a city hall. Go there and sometimes they have what they call interest cards where you write your contact information, and the kind of volunteering work that you are interested in. When something comes up, they contact you to see if you are willing to help. These are places where they can have a variety of tasks in which you can help. Usually, they have volunteering work in offices, where you can help with clerical work such as filing, answering the phone, organizing files, and preparing male, etcetera. Sometimes they also need help for especial school-coordinated events.

  3. I am as excited as you are about summer. Volunteering is a great idea as long as they don't expect you to just to administrative work. As it was mentioned, in the libraries you can find conversational English groups that you can join. Since you will be traveling, you will get an opportunity to utilize your English more than staying in town. Also, you will get exposed to world Englishes since you will see lots of visitors in New York. Enjoy your summer.

  4. Yes, volunteering is a good idea during summer. I wish I also would have time to travel around the U.S and get some volunteering job to improve my communication skills in the workplace. Good luck and enjoy your summer.
